Hamilton's Open Data movement progressing rapidly and we're nearly the completion of our first goal - the adoption of an Open Data policy by City Council.
First, I want to thank everyone for their support and participation in the project. We are going to improve the quality of life in Hamilton.
Over the pass few weeks, many of us have been meeting with City staff, City Councillors, staff in the both the current mayor's and mayor-elect's office. There have also been meetings with community agencies and potential business sponsors to assist with implementation of open data projects once City Council adopts an Open Data policy.
The document that will be presented to Council is currently underway and much progress has been made on it.
There is now a domain registered for the Open Data movement locally and website that is under construction.
We'll be meeting again this Saturday at 11am at The Mulberry Cafe to move Open Data forward in Hamilton.
If you haven't attended the previous meetings, do not be concerned. The meeting with start with a brief introduction of what Open Data is. A brief summary of the project is available on Raise The Hammer: http://raisethehammer.org/article/1223/time_for_open_government_data_ in_hamilton
