I don't really think "Indie/Obscure" counts as a genre...
That's like saying that my favourite genres of music are rock, hip-hop, jazz, and artists whose name starts with the letter G.
The movies there dramatic though, so maybe Drama?
Despite what others say, I think the Saw series is decent. Not Oscar-worthy or anything, but it's been worth the $10-$12 every year at least.
Currently catching up with the DC movies, i.e. Superman Doomsday, Under the Red Hood, Superman/Batman Apocalypse etc.

Robin Hood - sucked big time
Sherlock Holmes - heard it was okay, haven't seen for myself yet
Watchmen - amazing (seen it atleast 4 times already)
Transformers 2 - horrible, but okay if you want a mindless action film and but dont be surprised if you "what just happened?" at the end.
The Town
The Last Exorcism
... more to come

Alright man, good luck.

Except that indie is a genre of music so i don't really see what you mean... That being said, independent films are usually more script heavy due to budget restrictions and they also feature lesser known actors, which is why it is considered its own genre. Oh well, to each his own.

I have to say that Salt, The Stepfather, and GI Joe were AWFUL films, Salt was especially boring and has the same "Russians still hate America" plot, which is really getting boring if not a little bit xenophobic.
How to Train Your Dragon - i've heard TERRIFIC things about this movie, from critics and friends alike.
Shutter Island - this one depends on how interested in thrillers you are, this is either a movie that you will love/hate, but i will say that the end is probably one of the best i've seen in cinema in a long time.

In no particular order whatsoever;
Horror - The Thing, Psycho, 28 Days Later, Jacob's Ladder, Event Horizon, Silence of the Lambs
Foreign - Das Leben Der Anderen (The Lives of Others), Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Bio Zombie!!, Ichi the Killer, Downfall
Indie/Obscure (or whatever that means, I assume that means 'lesser known, budget restricted and script heavy') - In Bruges, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Brick, Conspiracy (TV movie), Army of Darkness, Primer, Pi
Action - Heat, Collateral, Die Hard 1-3, Equilibrium, Casino, Body of Lies, Sunshine
Mystery/Noir - Cape Fear, Insomnia, Following, The Ice Harvest, Primal Fear, Se7en, 1984, Rear Window, Inside Man, No Country for Old Men,
Drama - Spy Game, Interview with the Vampire, Patriot Games, Shallow Grave, The English Patient, The Departed (and Infernal Affairs), 12 Monkeys, Black Hawk Down, Fracture, Suicide Kings
Classics - Vertigo, Casablanca, Anatomy of a Murder, 12 Angry Men, Blade Runner, The Fugitive
Comedy - Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Zombieland, Dracula (Bram Stoker's - trust me, the movie is definitely comedic...), MacGruber (so stupid that it's hilariously fun if you give up your inhibitions), Hot Fuzz

Horror:
The Mist - Not particularly scary, but an excellent story and a tragic conclusion, it's usually categorized as a horror movie and it's worth watching
Human Centipede - Not particularly scary, but psychologically disturbing. I've watched the Saw/Hostel type movies and they do nothing for me, this movie on the other hand actually made me squeamish.
1408 - Best horror movie I've watched in a long time. It's actually somewhat scary and a little disturbing, the plot is solid and it's among my favourite movies from my late teens. It's worth picking up if you've never seen it.
Word of warning, all three of these movies can be a bit hit and miss, but that's true of all horror movies.

The mist has the worst ending I've seen in a LONG time in terms of both story line and acting. That would NOT be somebody's reaction. (trying not to spoil)

A few of my favourites which haven't been mentioned yet:
Memento
Eraserhead
American Psycho
The Sixth Sense
All of them are psychological thrillers to a certain degree. Except for Eraserhead, I guess, which is just plain weird (you'll know what I mean if you've seen it).
