MSAF-ingBio Midterm
Hi MI!
Just wondering if anyone has ever used an MSAF for a Bio 1A03 or Bio 1M03 midterm and what happened to their percentage? Was it just added on to the final exam?
Thanks in advance

I haven't done it myself- but I was told by a friend that for 1M03 there are no rewrites- so it would be added to your exam percentage
I suggest you check the syllabus however, as it might say so you know for sure

The percentage of the midterm does get added on the final exam, I used the MSAF for my second Bio 1M03 midterm last term. I found the exam easier than expected so the total 55% did not hurt my mark. Btw, it states in the course outline that the weight of a MSAF'd midterm adds on the weight of your exam.

Better off asking a TA or professor, but I have a feeling you're MSAF'ing for the wrong reasons if this is a dilemma for you
Donnnttt dooo ittttt
I recall the 1a03 exam was a tad bit harder than the midterm (still cakewalk though)

alright, thanks! I'll be better off MSAF-ing it because of the circumstances I'm in and I'd rather have that extra 15% on the exam to try and ace instead of just messing up and losing a lot of it by attempting to do the midterm

Pretty sure being lazy and not wanting to study does not constitute as a minor medical incident...

On a related note, how long do profs normally take to get back to you after you've submitted an msaf? I emailed one of my profs yesterday morning, and I haven't had a response yet..should I be worried?

Go speak to them in person during their office hours or after class?
They may already have you in the system for weighting changes, but why remain uncertain?

They get back to you fairly quickly. I would send them a "did you receive my email?" before I went to see them in person.

The amount of content on a midterm is miniscule, 9 days is plenty. You can probably cram bio in 1-2 days and still pull off an 80+ if you really needed to.

I think that person means that they have 9 days to study for the final so MSAFing the mid term could be an asset.
