I would suggest not painting the room in your student house, especially if you have to paint the room back to an original colour when you leave.

The amount they charge would be based on the size of the room. I would assume they would be doing it per hour, which would be at least $10/hr.

So first figure out how large your room is, and the amount of paint you would need to cover that (primer + 2 coats), and then how much it costs.

Why not paint it yourself, if you are so set on painting it?

True dat. I painted my whole apartment back home with 3 different colors of paint and all the supplies for like $60. Just go to Home Depot or somewhere similar and get that off color paint, thats like 1 shade different than the swatches because they didnt mix it right. Much cheaper.

Paint will run about $40 per gallon depending on quality etc. Depending on how big the room is, you'll likely need 1-2 gallons. I suggest doing it yourself because you'll save on labour, but you should first learn a bit about painting. I started painting as a summer job two years ago and it is harder than it looks. Unless you're not really concerned about it looking good
Oh, and you'll want to prime first.
And check what kind of paint is currently on the walls (acrylic, latex, etc.) cause what you put on top might not stick properly unless you get the same kind.
