my elective is full
my elective is MUSIC 1AA3, when i login SOLAR this morning, 3:30 or so, it's full. i really really love that course. how and when can i choose that course again? are there any possibilities?

You can keep on trying to get into that course while SOLAR is still open. Then try again on August 13th onwards.

You can try to register again when SOLAR opens up. People usually switch their courses around once school starts so you still might be able to get in during the 1st week of school or so.
If not, some profs will open up a seat for you if you send them an email and explain why you are really interested in taking the course.
Thats how I got into a philosophy course last year =)

1. Check back often. I think by August 25th (whenever payments are due), if people haven't paid for their courses, they get booted so you might be able to grab a spot.
2. Try e-mailing the prof or the department.
3. You can always take it in second year : )

thanks for your reply!!! if i can get in during the 1st week of school, that means my tuition fee will change. when should i pay my tuition fee? what if i get in after paying my tuition?? do i need to repay or something like that? who do i can know whether someone switches their courses in the 1st week?
another question is how do i know who is the prof. for this course and his or her e-mail?

Your tuition fee will slightly change and you'll have to pay McMaster whatever the difference is. Or if your tuition gets lowered you'll see a negative amount in your account statement. Then they mail you a check.

The only way to know if someone switches out of the course is to login to SOLAR and see if the course is still full. If it's not full anymore, someone dropped it.

SOLAR will be open for a while after the summer registration period, and it will be pretty active during the first week of classes when people are still switching out of courses and such. Continually check for an "Available" on SOLAR for your course. |
