If you think that someone spilled water on it then you should just let it dry. You can submerge it in rice to speed up the process or if it's humid where you are.
I also have to ask, the key isn't stuck right?
Edit: You'll probably want to take out the keyboard from the laptop or you'll have rice stuck in your laptop. But it's happened to my friend's macbook, except it was beer. Worked out it in the end.

Oh 3 days, I don't think it's still wet then...
Have you tried re-installing the driver?

hard to say what's wrong but in the mean time you can buy a 20$ usb keyboard to use as a supplement until you fix your problems. (I happen to have one for sale...logitech standard keyboard...)

You can try and update the driver via the device manager application.
If that doesn't work then try and roll-back the driver (if possible).
If that doesn't work then try and uninstall the driver and re-install it by going to Sony's website and finding the driver there (At least I know Dell has their driver's on their website, no idea if Sony has the same).
Edit: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl
By the way, I'm by no means a computer expert (I consider myself average). These are just things I would try if it happened to me. I can't say that it'll actually work.

So you would need to restart your computer for it to notice. But I'm not entirely sure about it. I'm not even sure it's a problem with your driver.
I'm pretty sure you can take your laptop to UTS and they would be able to help you. They helped me with my wireless connection 2 years ago. For now just do as Krusenik advised and just get a usb keyboard.

Off-topic: I find it really odd that every department (that I know of) at McMaster has the domain _____.mcmaster.ca (like math.mcmaster.ca, science.mcmaster.ca, housing.mcmaster.ca) but UTS isn't set up that way :\
