I'm really not sure, your best bet would be to talk to an academic adviser like you said! I don't know how it works for first years but usually in the upper years (when you're in your respective stream) they will let you take other courses that year that don't require the course you failed as a prerequisite, then retake that course the following year. You're basically behind a year but at least you get to continue in the program. I know it's depressing but look on the bright side: you're only in first semester so if they don't let you back in, it's pretty easy to go into a different program and you won't have lost much, if any, time.

Best of luck! I hope it works out for you!

Would it be better to re-apply for the program next year and are the chances of getting re-accepted good? Anyone has tried doing this before in another program? I'm trying to see the options I have at this point before speaking to anyone next week.

By re-apply, do you mean reinstatement? You can't apply as you would if you were coming out of high school--your grades this year won't just disappear. For reinstatement, I think it depends what the reasons were for you doing poorly. Usually if there was a family situation that has since been resolved, or something of that nature, your chances are pretty good, but if it was just you not studying or something, they usually want you to take a year off and take courses elsewhere or do something that shows you've changed and are prepared to do better. It's definitely not guaranteed though, regardless of your circumstances.

You still have second term to pull up your grades--you won't get kicked out in December/January. An academic advisor should be able to tell you all of your options, though.

Thank you for clearing that up, I didn't know that I couldn't re-apply all together like you do after high school.

So if I do well next semester it would help my chances of reinstatement I'm guessing?

I failed a first semester course that was a prerequisite for 3 of my courses 2nd semester. I had them all registered already so I could still take them. I passed all 3 of them. I had to re-take my 1st semester course this year but I don't have to retake 2nd semester courses.

This isn't how Med Rad works, unfortunately. You fail a course, you can't continue in the program until you retake that course...so you can still take courses that don't require the course you failed, and that will lighten your course load for when you repeat the year, but you are still repeating the year.

I'm not sure if you can do that in your situation. What I know is, people applying to Med Rad from other programs have a harder time getting acceptance than those applying directly from high school. You're required to have a certain cutoff overall GPA and a cutoff GPA for some individual courses, like Math.
I'm not sure which course you failed and how essential it is to next semester but you probably won't have to go through the process of completely re-applying. I know people who repeated the course they failed and got re-evaluated (they had only failed one course and had been doing reasonably in others) and admitted back into the program (at the level they left). These are all second and third year students though (they're tougher on the upper years in terms of failing a course) so you might- hopefully- have an easier time getting back into the program!

I didnt notice if you mentioned the course, but some courses is says registration in xxx as the prereq so if you fail the prereq course, you wont have to drop the second course.

Also can you see if thecourse is offered somewhere else? Kinda easier to answer

BTW if you go to profile, you can edit your faculty info
