OPIRG McMaster and Centre 3 for Print and Media Arts invite McMaster University students to participate in the art-based research project
Re: Brand Hamilton. We are looking for 8 students (up to 24 years of age) from different departments/programs, who can commit to take part in a five day workshop starting April 30th to May 4th 2013.
For the research phase of the project, participants will visit civic museums and landmarks, in addition to locations that they identify as significant to their personal heritage and to the collective history of the larger community. Photographs, prints, drawings, text, video, sound, and other workshop results will contribute to a tool kit for 3 more youth research teams, as well as to the creation of screen-printed and other promotional materials in the production/distribution phase.
Through an iterative process of participatory research and production workshops, a total of 40 youth from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds will create maps; tour guides, t-shirts, bags and other promotional materials that will help attract and connect young people to Hamilton’s sites.
