New Websites for a New School Year!
With the new school year comes two brand new websites! The MSU, your McMaster Students Union, has revamped their website and are running on a new Orbis Portal system. While most of the content is the same right now as the old site, this is just phase one of the project. New features are planned to be included in the site. One new feature is
blog pages for each of your Board of Directors (see our video with them
here). This should hopefully give them a place to share with you, the students, what's going on in the MSU in an official format. It appears they've also changed the website address so you can now visit
http://www.msumcmaster.ca. Kudos to Pauline Taggart and Sarah Kwasniewski for heading the redesign.
SOCS, the Society of Off-Campus Students, also revamped their website and now have a really slick and very well designed interface that sports the proud orange colour that SOCS are known for (orange suits!). Their site is a lot more interactive now which is what we love to see, with a new
discussion forum that you can post in, as well as nicely archived newsletters, blog-style news, photo galleries, and much more. Great work SOCS! Off-campus students, go and check out the new site and interact with other students living off-campus! You can view the site at
http://www.socs.ca.
The Sil, your student newspaper, also appears to be brewing something new as well. We
broke the news about their new design not too long ago, and now it appears they're putting some final touches on it before doing an official launch. The site shows an image that their "web monkey is busy working". We look forward to seeing what The Sil has in store for us!
MacInsiders is also going to be going through a new revamp shortly as we make it easier for you to interact with each other and search our vast knowledgebase of information contributed by you, the students. Stay tooned as there is plenty in store for you all!
What do you think of the new MSU and SOCS website? Let us know!
