It depends on the type of person you are and where you shop. Fortinos = Loblaws so prices are kinda expensive. Are you the type of person that just buys whatever they want or just buys things on sale? Do you make your own food or buy frozen dinners? I've seen friends' shopping lists range from 40-100/week. Mind you if you go to say asian grocers or private ones or farmer's market could be significantly cheaper.

My shopping list is around $50 including all the meat, veggies, an fruits. For veggies and fruits, I highly recommend going to Metro or Fortinos. You can buy meat at cheaper prices at oriental supermarkets except for beef if you like to eat them medium rare or rare.

If you have any food intolerances, you'll probably be spending a considerable amount more. Fortinos and Metro don't have the greatest selection (though it is quite substantial) and that food is a lot more expensive. Same if you're vegan/eat organic.

On a very good week, I'm down to 35.
On a really expensive week, it can be up to 120.
That doesn't include the cost of meat.

I am curious as to where these locations are. I am on a tight budget this year so, low price food would be amazing.

There's one Asian market near the corner of Park Street North and Cannon, a couple blocks north from Copps Coliseum, and another one several blocks west from there near the corner of Queen St N and York. The Farmer's Market is downtown, attached to the mall at Jackson Square - it has it's own separate street entrance on York Blvd, about a block west from James St

What do you mean "better"? Depending on what brands you like/buy/ I personally prefer Foritnos because I buy a lot of President's choice products. In terms of price, overall, Fortino's is cheaper. But if you're willing to make the trip, No Frills would definitely be cheaper than both (Metro is the more expensive version of Food basics, and Fortino's is owned by the same company as No Frills).
