Offcampus Meal Plan
Does anyone know if there is a deadline for buying one of the offcampus meal plans? Also can someone explain the difference between the two options? thx

I don't think there is a deadline. The difference is that you can put 100$ on at a time compared to 2500$ from the on-campus meal plan.

Application: http://hospitality.mcmaster. ca/mea...mp2009_pdf.pdf

Also, if you are living in residence you are required to purchase an on-campus meal plan.

There is no deadline for it. I remember getting mine activated mid-year, two years ago.

The one that I have is called the freedom plan (I think). You basically put as much money on as you want and nothing expires. The other plan, I believe requires you to put a set amount of money, which will expire if not used up... you also get a bigger discount with this plan.

I just purchased it, and there isn't a deadline.

There's the Freedom plan and the Term plan. The Freedom plan starts at a minimum of $100, and (I think) you can use it at select restaurants outside campus. Taxes are included to purchases, and the money is refundable if you don't use it all up. The Term plan starts at a minimum of $220 for 4 weeks, and add an extra $55 per week for every week extra. You can use the Term plan at the food places inside campus, and purchases will not be taxed. However, if you don't use up the money in the meal plan, the money is not refundable.

That is correct, Freedom allows you to purchase food at select restaurants: http://hospitality.mcmaster. ca/loc...offcampus.html

If you aren't going to use off-campus restaurants, then transfer all your money in your freedom account to your Flex account. Flex you can't use off-campus but you don't have to pay taxes when you purchase food on-campus.

so if u buy the freedom account u can transfrer them to flex so u dont have to pay taxes? It seems silly that if u buy the term plan it only lasts for 4 weeks unless u want to pay 55 more per month, i basically want one like a had on campus last year cept less money in it, since i only plan on using it on campus once in a while

Then definitively do the Freedom plan. Like I said you can transfer between Freedom and Flex. Also, the money will rollover to the next year. You can also add small amounts at a time (100$ minimum each time).
