osap issued?
Hi,

On my payment agreement, it says beside my osap that it's "issued" and subtracts the amount from the tuition and asking me for the remainder. I'm not sure if the school actually received it or in the process of receiving it. Because when i check osap mobile, it says for next step, "income verifcation" so seems like the osap hasn't done processing.
Do any of you guys know about this?

Thanks

Because we don't have to line up anymore, no one is really sure about when osap is coming out. When did you submit your papers?

If you click on "income verification" it says that that is done before the release of the second chunk, in January. As long as the school has confirmed your enrollment, the first 60% should have been released. You can always check your account statement to verify, although it could take a few days' lag time.

As for when funding is supposed to be released, it's not that no one knows...if you click on "when will my funding be released" or something like that in OSAP, it specifies a date. So basically, as long as the school has confirmed enrollment and it's after that date, you'll get the money.

OSAP gives out the first payment sometime in September, and then you are required to complete the income verification in order to get your SECOND payment from them (usually happens in January)

They say the sooner the better but you have until mid December (don't remember exact date) to verify your income, don't worry about that for now!

Does anyone know if we get our OSAP deposited in more than one installment based on where the money is coming from? Because I have money that was deposited from Canada GSL today but I'm entitled to more than that after they've remitted to the school.

I also did not have the full amount deposited today that I was entitled. I contacted SFAS and they informed me that some of the amount issued is provincial, and some is federal- so the remaining amount may be deposited within the next few days. Otherwise, they told me to call National Student Loans

There are no lines to get OSAP this year...SFAS/OSAP sent out multiple emails and it's on the OSAP website, and on the MSFAA form you filled out.

I'm kind of getting nervous that the money won't come in in time to pay my rent on the 1st... there have been a few unanticipated expenses recently and after paying tuition I'm pretty broke. I was expecting it to come in by now but now I'm not sure... I'm probably just prematurely freaking out. It's just that asking my mother for money is generally a terrible experience.

There's really nothing you can do about OSAP, but as people have posted that they've at least gotten a portion of their money, that should be enough to cover rent. If not, then pay rent late...if you just do it once, there aren't really any consequences, and it's not the end of the world. I think it's only a problem if you habitually don't pay on time.

I haven't gotten mine yet either. It should be any day though
