Overloading?
Title says it all.

BIO 2C03 is full in term 2, so right now I have 18 units in first term and 12 units in the second because my electives have to be done in that order. Does anybody have any suggestions or thoughts? Is there any way that I can get a spot in 2C03?

Thanks!!

Try talking to an academic advisor, at the same time keep trying to get into term 2. I probably wouldn't bother trying now, but definitively try when SOLAR reopens in August all the way into the end of September (atleast). Try the academic advisors again when school starts in September as well, personally go to their office.

That's not overloading. Overloading is above 30 units overall. All you can do is check SOLAR often to try and get into Bio 2C03 in term 2. You still have 2 months so that's plenty of time. And besides, because it's a term 2 course, you can get in anytime between now and January of 2012. The same thing happened to me and I was able to get in sometime in September. Alternatively, at the end of term 2, maybe speak to an academic advisor to try and get in, but there are no guarantees.

People add/drop courses all the time so I suggest you keep checking SOLAR. I'm sure it will become available at some point.

A more risky move would be to drop bio 2c03, pick a random term 2 course, and switch into bio 2c03 at the start of term 2.

If you get stuck with your current situation, having 18 units in term I and 12 in term II is not that bad. You might suffer in term I but term II would be a breeze.

As Sara mentioned, overloading would be if you're taking >30 credits. You have 30.

I have run into the exact same issue many times- usually, if the circumstances are legitimate (as in this case) simply contact the faculty and most times they will give you a seat. Especially in this case, you should be fine as overloading is reccommended against. Hope this helps!
