PDF files of textbooks
Does anyone know if there's any way or maybe any site where I can get pdf files of textbooks?

I commute to Mac everyday, and my textbooks are quite heavy (especially my Chemistry one), so in case there's homework, I was thinking of just viewing the homework questions from the textbook on their pdf versions.

Has anyone here done this before?

I've done this for the last 4 years at McMaster. Your publisher will probably have your version available for ebook purchase, but I wouldn't advise buying.

Are you familiar with 'torrenting'?

DMe3, Sam-I-am like this.

Like free or buy them? There are many places to buy them, but there are a few floating around between students and DC++

If you haven't already purchased your textbooks and would prefer to stay on the legal side of things check out www.coursesmart.com. I can use my textbooks on my phone, Playbook and computer and it's much better UI than a pdf file. You can highlight, use the table of contents as links within the book, make notes for pages/paragraphs, etc.

If you've already bought the textbooks, just leave them at home. No need to lug them back and forth, especially when you won't ever have any homework questions from the textbook for marks, they're all for your own understanding (and for chem, the textbook questions are unnecessary/useless unless you're severely struggling and desperately need extra practice).

Does this mean you're not withdrawing from Mac?

Just fyi, if you have "Mastering Chemistry" then you automatically get an ebook version of the textbook.

Many first year texts have multiple copies available in the library, either for checkout or reserve. If you are commuting, I may suggest having a locker, so as to avoid having to lug books back and forth. They cost $35 per year (Sept-Apr) and are sold through Titles. Worth going in there to see if any are still available. I commute and that was the best decision I made.

Nope! I was going to, and everything was a mess during the first 2 weeks of school, but I talked about it with my parents, and now I don't have to withdraw

Oh yeah, I have this one, but since I recently just switched to Chem, I still haven't opened the textbook package actually, and I'll have to check out Mastering Chemistry ASAP.

Yeah, managed to get a locker! Did it a bit late though, so I had mine at JHE, which is far from the buildings where most of my classes are at. Hopefully it won't be too hard going back and forth during wintertime, but hey, at least I got a locker!

I'd stay on the legal side..... but I don't have the money to bail out Greece.
