jahn: I doubt it was a comet itself you saw...those things don't disintegrate, and they have massive tails (compared to a 'shooting star'). What you see during a meteor shower is (in this case at least, I'm not positive it's always the case) the debris from the tail of a comet that passed years ago.

I'm not sure I saw any blinking light! But I know for a fact that Venus and Jupiter were visible with the naked eye last night...possibly Mars if you live in an area with no light pollution, and Neptune (right beside Jupiter) if you used a telescope (: It may have been one of those.

This thing runs from Mid-July to End-August by the way, this was simply the peak night. If you liked what you saw, and you happen to be up around 2:00 ish this morning, have another peak outside. (:

Me too! I thought it was pretty impossible with the horrible light pollution in Toronto. Bur regardless, it was so amazing! The few I saw anyway
