Physics 1B03 full
Don't ask how, but one of my friends who's going into life sciences wound up with 6 courses in term 1 and 4 in term 2 while doing course selection. The only apparent way to solve this is to move Physics 1B03 to term 2 but its full. He can't move any other course due to prerequisites or because its only offered in term 1. Does anyone know what he can do?

Tell him/her to drop physics 1b03 first term EVEN if he/she did not get phy 1b03 2nd term yet. Finish first term and then ask karen hughes (google her email) for a spot she is nice enough to give you a spot as long as u need it. First year and 6 courses in first term is just too much to handle for the average life science student.

Emphasis on first term first year: taking a full 5 course load will be more than enough of a transition.

^ Definitely the best solution if he can't get into the course. He still has from September till the first week of January 2012 to add in Physics to second term. And if it doesn't open during these 4 months, then he/she can always do as L'Etoile mentioned and ask for a spot since it's required by a few level II programs.

I might be dropping physics 1b03 second term and i know some other people who are considering it aswell. Needless to say, no worries at all there will be spots forsure you just gotta keep logging on to solar and checking consistently.

yeah, definitely keep checking SOLAR because people are always dropping courses, you've just got to be quick and lucky enough to get into them at the right time sometimes!

An unbalanced course load (unless you're an engineer) is never a wise choice, especially in a year of transition. Whether you're starting a new job that year, or just starting at Mac, I've found that to be pretty consistent advice. I'm not saying it cannot be done, it just takes a lot out of you and is a real burnout by the end.

You can take bio 1M03 and bio 1A03 at the same time, 1A03 is not a prereq for 1M03. Message me if for some reason he drops bio 1M03 in second semester.

That's not recommended though. It would be quite a heavy workload. I remember it stated this in the undergrad calendar.
