You can check online at prestocard.ca! Just enter your card number.

they should make a balance checking app, pretty much all phones but the useless A are NFC enabled. Saves time and hassle

If you can check it online, why not just bring up a browser and check it there? :S

u dont have internet everywhere, where as most ppl have data on their phones and NFC. Plus its less work and time than having to turn on ur laptop, login, wait another couple hours to connect to internet esply at THODE!

I wasn't aware that balance information was stored on the card itself? I thought it was just an ID number?

Yeah it is all from your card number, whether you've registered the card or not

Notice how whenever you tap on/off the balance comes up?

That's what I'm asking... the machine reads your ID and obtains transfer and balance information from the server, it isn't stored on the card. Thus the redundancy of the NFC if the user does not have wifi/data.

I just realized u meant the phone browser. Im pretty slow ...

That can be done, but the thing is the site is not optimized for smart phones, which means u gotta do a lot of scrolling and resizing (try doing that on an iPhone 3G).

Plus the card ID is like 15 to 20 chtrs long (its as good as a password), which is pain to type and correct on a smart phone, esply for people with none ideal figures

With NFC, its just a matter of tapping the card, which connects to the server and returns ur account balance. Just like how those Presto machines work at major Transit Terminals work, except it on ur phone (with a data connection)
