Questions on Presto
Ok so I recently bought a RT ticket from MAC to Union Station. I have a few question to those who are familliar with this route. I will be taking the bus from MAC to Aldershot then the train from there to Union. I know that I have to tap the card when getting on and off the bus to avoid overcharge too.
Am I doing this right?
1. Tap on the bus from MAC-Aldershot
2. Tap again when getting off the bus
3. Tap on when going on the train
4. Tap again at Union
Also should I ask for ticket from the bus driver in case there is random ticket check on the train?
TIA

Your steps are correct. Also, no you shouldn't. The bus ride has NOTHING to do with the train ride.

sounds right. btw if this is your usual trip, you can set it up on presto so you just tap on once and that default trip cost gets deducted.

If someone comes around on the train to check if you've paid, they have a device that checks your presto card, to see if you tapped on.

You can't set default trips on a bus route, I'm pretty sure.

Ok so I did search for the fare for each ride using Presto:
Bus from MAC to Aldershot :$4.43
Train from Aldershot to Union: $9.12
Total is $13.55 instead of $10.45 for a single ride ticket. I'm confused on which fare rate that I'm going to be charged.

Does that single ticket price get you from your absolute beginning point to ending point? You'll be charged $13.55 if you use your Presto card on both modes of transportation.

I'd go with the one way ticket then. Though, does that one way ticket cover both for the bus ride and the train somehow?

Ah, I see. Well that sucks. At the end of the day though, it's only $2.10 right if I'm doing my arithmetic correctly (in me brain). Not too too bad either, though you could have used that money on like a small ice capp or something at Tim Hortons. xD I'm not too sure that the bus driver could do anything for you. Maybe you can pay for the ticket using your Presto card? I don't know.

I had that issue at first. Asked the GO station person at Aldershot and found out that my account got credited afterwards. So in the end it is $10.45.

may i suggest you just take HSR to king and dundurn or hamilton GO, then take 16 Go bus to union. I think train is slower, and the process is more complicate. if you take the bus, you just tap twice. by the way, you should get the student discount, the bus ride will be less than $10.45 per trip.

Ya I was thinking of doing that too but the time for both trip are about the same since I am leaving in the morning rush hour. It'd be more convenient for me to get on the bus at Mac since I live ear campus
