PSYCH 1X03 Text...
I was just wondering if it is worth it to buy the textbook for pysch 1x03 (the one by Peter Gray), or if it is pretty much useless since its not a required text. Thanks!

I didn't buy the textbook in my year. I didn't find it was needed, I probably wouldn't have read it if I did buy it... Psychology isn't my subject of choice.

I didn't buy it, and I didn't feel the need for it at all. For 1X03, we were only ever tested on lecture material (despite being told we'd be tested on courseware readings), and then in 1XX3, we were tested on the lectures and then they randomly decided to test us on the courseware readings. The textbook itself is just for your own interest.

It's a waste of money. This textbook is supplementary and not required. Reminder: Custom Courseware is fair game on tests so you should buy the little psych 1x03 booklet.

I would wait until the first class and see, because if you check the latest course outline for Psych 1X03 , it says that:

"Your course textbook can be purchased as an e-book that contains essential readings with testable material for the course." (It also provides a link for the e-book, but the link doesn't work. >.<)

Whereas, in previous years, the outline actually stated that the textbook was optional!

Here's the link for the new outline:

I'm a keener, so I've already looked at the course outline for this year which is posted on Avenue. That text book is not on it. Is optional to buy access to an e-book, but no actual text book is listed.

Sorry... just realized that I pretty much repeated what you said. And you said it way better. So my post above is useless.

Actually u dont really need the required courseware for this course either. I thought that was really useless too. I didnt use it at all and didnt find anything on midterms from it. Next year might be different though.
