Psych- Science?
This may be a dumb question but at McMaster, is psychology considered a science or a social science? I know different Universities classify it differently...Thanks!

Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour is listed under Science, Social psychology is listed under Social Science. I believe all the psychology courses are listed under the Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour department.

The way McMaster lists its psychology courses only matter to McMaster. If you apply to another school and they consider psychology as a social science, then that's what it is for them.

You can do a bachelor of arts in Honours Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour as well, if you enter from the social science stream. There's also a 3 year, non-honours pure "psychology" program under social science.

Yep. All Psych courses offered at Mac fall under the Faculty of Science. Psychology is also under the faculty of Social Sciences, though, and the main program offered is Social Psych.

Or you can just do a regular degree in Psych via Social Sciences, but you won't have to take biology and whatever other courses the Science Psych students takes.

The main difference (that I know of, anyway) besides the slight change in courses is that the degree you will get from the Science Psychology is a B.Sc. in Psychology, Neuroscience, & Behaviour whereas the Social Science one is an Honours B.A. in Psychology.

no, but there's a PNB B.A. too.

it's Hons. PNB BSc., Hons. PNB B.A., and Psychology (B.A.)
