Question for all upper year Faculty of Science students...
Ok, so its that time of the year again, program selection season. I'm having a hard time in chosing between Honours Biology and Honours Biochemistry . I have looked at the courses under each program using the Undergraduate calendar and to be honest, I find both of them interesting!

I would like you guys to please tell me why you chose either program(if you are in it) or what you think are the strengths of each program. Also, In general are Biochemistry profs better instructors and more approachable that Biology profs(and viceversa).

Also, if anyone has tips on selecting a suitable program, please share them with me because I don't know what else to do

Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help!

I think it's safe to say that there are "good" and "bad" profs in each department. It somewhat depends on the student though. For instance, in first year I thought Dr. Jacobs did a very good job with teaching the influenza model but a lot of people I know didn't like him.

For biochem, I remember Dr. Nodwell in second year Biochem 2B03. He has a really simplistic way of teaching about DNA structure and function.

For bio, I really enjoyed Dr. Elliot (although apparently she's an a prof for biochem too... she's listed in their faculty). She was really enthusiastic and you can tell she really loves her job.

You might want to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor. They can help you figure out what you want to do in the future.
