question about econ 1b03
i keep hearing that econ 1b03 is not as bird as people claim it to be.
I mean im pretty comfortable with math, if that's what people is having trouble with.
I heard that exam was hard, because it was very math based and also due to time constraint
Is she making it easier this year?

The hardest part about econ 1b03 for me was memorizing all the new terminology. As far as I remember that math was fairly easy, there was no calculus just a few formulas you had to remember.

As far as I know, the difficuluty slightly increases each year in the midterms and exams, but the quizzes get easier. I heard in term 2 last school year you could do the weekly quizzes in groups..whereas when I took it in term 1 you had to do it by yourself. Maybe she increased the difficulty there as well, but a good group brainstorming together sort of makes up for that. Overall, I found 1B03 much more easier than 1BB3 and a bird course for myself. It depends on your strengths, weaknesses and interests which make a course easy/hard for you overall.

^quizzes shouldnt be a problem...best 5/9 and only worth 1% each. i had econ 1b03 this past winter term and the midterms were easy. just understand and memorize the slides and you're fine. the exam was the hardest 1st year exam i had though. the math on it was difficult for me since i just expected it to be basic lines but i never could get the answer right for most of em and consumed too much time for failed attempts. after the 2nd midterm you should start taking the class seriously if you wanna do well tho since that stuff is the main stuff on the exam. its a light course either way since you only really have the exam to worry about. midterms are not bad if you study 2 days hard since they only cover like 5 chapters each. hannah holmes has been boosting exam marks by 10% for a while now since they have been low or something so you get a free grade point in her class.

True, but regardless quizzes do make up a fair amount of your grade..if you're aiming to get 90%+ that is.

If you have it as an evening class (I had it as an evening class Winter 2012), there was 2 midterms and a final, with the option of making the final 100%. The content in that class is as straightforward as it will get in university, and is really, really, really easy to ace.

It's becuase last year they changed it around. The avenue quizzes weren't the same and the tests may not have followed the same questions as year before. Also you actually need to sit down and learn the theory and apply/try some questions

A lot of people were caught for cheating 2 years ago, so she got annoyed and made everything a bit harder and changed things around. Overall it may be a bit harder, but seeing as I didn't go to class for 2 months and barely studied, ended with an 11 you should be fine
