Hey guys, I'm planning on doing a second degree in Math and Stats, and as part of the degree requirements I have to take 12 units of electives. Now coming from Engineering, what few electives we had were restricted to a set of social science/arts courses, so I am not sure what happens in other faculties. Are there any restrictions on the electives when I'm doing my second degree in the faulty of Science, or am I allowed to take any courses I want (including filling out those 12 electives with additional math/stats courses)?

(sorry if this is a dumb question, but I forgot to ask the academic councillor when I spoke to her, and the undergrad science office didn't respond to email).

Check the undergraduate calendar here: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1589.html - the units that must come from the "course list", must come from the provided course list. Electives may come from any faculty.

As far as I know, engineering is the only faculty that has a specific elective list.

As a math/stats student you may take any elective course for which you have the prerequisites.
