Questions, please answer
Hey everyone, I have a few questions:

1.) Term 2 starts on January 4th, can we move back to our residences on the 3rd?
2.) Do tutorials start on the first day/week of Term 2?
3.) I need to retake a course during the summer, are there any costs (if so, how much)?
4.) What is a typical day in summer school (like is it everyday for 5 hours, or 3 days per week for less hours)?
5.) Can I take the summer school course at a different university? Say, York or U of T?

Thanks!

2 - Usually no
3 - Couple hundred per course
4 - Last year I had 2 days a week, 3 hours each. Might depend on the course
5 - I think you can... talk to your academic advisor about it

Courses in the summer cost as much as in winter/fall. It's a per unit cost and it depends on what department the course belongs to. But it's pretty much the same as taking it during the "normal" academic year, cost-wise.

There might also be supplementary fees.

Oh, do you have any idea of the per unit cost? It's Math 1z04.

Really...? As jhan523 said, it's per unit, but a good majority of single-term courses are 3 units, so I think it's more like $500-$700.

This was last summer's fees: http://www.mcmaster.ca/bms/student/p..._level_1.p df . If anything, it'd probably go up slightly for next summer.

EDIT: If anyone is curious for other year fees, see this link - http://www.mcmaster.ca/bms/student/SAC_fees.htm

As for the frequency/duration of summer classes, I think they are usually as Jeff says (2x/wk for 3 hours each), as that's how it was when I took summer classes. However, this could vary for some courses. If you have labs, they are every week instead of every other.

Does anyone know how many times we go to school for Chem 1A03 and AA3 each week. I might as well get a summer job if it works out.

Chem 1A03/1AA3 was twice a week last year. I'm pretty sure it's usually kept like that.

The only thing is that Chem has labs so you will have an additional random block of three hours in the morning or afternoon once a week, every week, so just keep that in mind if you're thinking about a summer job.

I don't understand, does the lab time change every week? Can't you choose, which lab you want to attend. Thanks for the above info though.

Sorry I guess I was being unclear.

The lab time does NOT change every week. It will be the same time every week. I think for the most part you can choose which lab, but the availability is limited. For example, last year, there were only two labs offered on two different days (each was on one of the lecture days).

Last summer Math 1Z04 was Monday - Thursday from 14:30 - 16:20 and also there was a lab every Friday from 14:30 - 15:20 but no one went to it since Matlab/Maple was same as Fall term.

Also if you want to know how Math 1ZZ5 works in the summer its Monday - Friday, 14:30 - 16:20.

Hope that helps!
