Realistic Job Opportunities for Life Science Graduates
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knows potential jobs for life science graduates besides the typical continuing onto medical school, pharmacy etc... Would love to know since I know it's limited. Thanks for everyones input!

I ran into an old tutor who turned out was a prof at a university. Their children are in life sciences or a specialization of life sci. These days there are so many people in life sciences. Grad school seems to be a must. My friend going to 4th year chembio says the same.

it really depends if you've specialized or not. Without a specialization, there isn't much. With a specialization, you've got a better shot at grad school, which opens the door to other jobs, and you can also do lower-level work in drug companies, other industry (depending very much on the specialization! it would be very different for chem vs bio, for example), in research labs or government, etc. The better stuff usually requires at least a Masters and typically PhD.

Co-op and Careers services in BSB can also teach you all the possible career options for Life Science students.

I am not in science, but from the experience of my friends and family who are science grads, grad school was the way to go. It will open up many doors upon graduation!

Thank you, but they weren't quite helpful- the instructor himself said he'd graduated with life science with no lab courses and couldn't find a job lol

You asked him what the career options are for a student in Life Science and he said like nothing? I would complain to the Associate Dean's Office. It's the job of people in Careers services to let students know what's available with a Life Science degree. I recall seeing things like being a Lab Technician as one of the possibilities and I'm sure there are quite a few careers out there for someone who completed their undergrad.

It probably was a reflection of the likelihood of one obtaining a job like that. He was probably saying the opportunities with an undergrad degree to find any job is very limited plus add the factor of high volume of students. Thus probably said none.
