Regarding Grade Reports
Is there a possibility that the final grade posted could be incorrect? The reason I am asking is because my grade minus the exam was higher than my final grade (not to be confused with my grade going into the exam; I calculated what I would have if I didn't write the exam and that mark was higher than the mark I ended up with as my final course grade). Oh, and I did write my exam and I did study for it and I found it to be a fair exam.

Ya, sounds like there is a good chance they somehow lost track of your exam or forgot to enter the mark (defaulting to pretty much zero).

Your best bet would be attempting to contact the professor. Don't make too much of an effort right now though; the whole university is shut down until January 3rd, 2011.

I have another question. The truth of the matter is I was given an F as my final course grade. I need to pass this course, seeing as it is a prerequisite for a 2nd semester course I am to take. What do I do?

When I was in first year, they messed up my physics mark by 3 units because one of my assignment marks was entered incorrectly.

That happened to me once. My grade report read that I had an F, which would've only been possible if I had gotten a zero on the exam. I just emailed the professor asking for a grade break down because I didn't understand how I could fail the course. He emailed me back (the same day, which was boxing day), and said that he hadn't submitted all of the grades so I shouldn't worry. Turns out he was right, and I had no reason to worry!

So my advice is to just email the professor asking politely for a grade break down and don't worry until you hear back from them.

Definitely try to contact the professor to sort this out. If the course is a prerequisite for a course for second semester, in case you did fail, you can get a waiver from the professor for the course in second term, or you can make the course in the summer and such.
