Reinstatement
Hello guys,

Just had a question that I am unsure about. I was a student at McMaster in 2011, I was enrolled in Medical Radiation Sciences. I withdrew from the program after completing 1st year successfully. I withdrew in my 2nd year after getting into the specialization of my choice.

Fast forward 5 years later...I am trying to get into the program again. I am aware that I cannot get into the 2nd year stream, this has been clarified by the academic advisor I spoke to. I am wondering if I am able to get into level I (first year) by applying as a high school applicant again? I am wondering if anyone know more about this information...the website does seem to shed much light regarding this issue.

Thanks!

I hope this helps. I guess you're considered a "returning student" since you withdrew. But I don't think you'd be applying as a high school applicant.

Thanks! Yes, I am aware of the website link but am I considered as "Re-admission" or "Reinstatement"?

Assuming you withdrew voluntarily like the description says then you're re-admission

Does withdrawing without a legitimate reason (ex. illness) count as "voluntarily withdrawal"?

Yes! I don't think you need a medical excuse or another serious excuse to withdraw. Many people withdraw to take the year off and work etc. Reinstatement is for those who were unable to continue at university due to poor academic standing. Since you voluntarily withdrew, you would apply for readmission.

Thanks Shania. The thing that makes me skeptical is I have repeatedly talked with my academic advisor about coming back and she tells me there is no opportunity to do so. Maybe after 5 years..it's possible to apply for re-admission?

Also, at the point when I withdrew..I had few failing grades which was why I withdrew. I wanted a "C" instead of an "F"..this doesn't make any difference in terms of being eligible for readmission right?
