Another important thing to know for back to school (especially if it's your first time coming to Mac!
):
At
Titles, our Campus Bookstore:
1. If you're using your mom or dad's credit card, please make sure you have a letter of permission to use it. Cashiers never like having to turn you away because it's clear that you're using your parent(s)' credit card. This is to prevent credit card fraud.
2. You can't use two authorizations at the same time, AKA combinations of credit and debit are
not possible.
3. You can use your student card to charge for purchases made at the bookstore. However, this does
not take money away from your meal plan (as is assumed by many students). It works much like a credit card and the interest rate is 1.2% per month (which beats the 20% at your regular credit card provider) and is added at the end of the next month. Charges show up on MUGSI under Account Statement. You also need the most recent term's sticker on your student card.
***If you're using it for the first time, please be prepared to show another piece of ID with your picture on it. This, again, prevents fraud.
4. Starting September 1st, Titles (and pretty much everywhere on campus) will start charging for plastic bags. Our price is 15 cents, which is a great deterrent for compulsive plastic bag takers.
5. However, during September (and January) rush we will be giving away 20,000 free reusable tote bags. It goes without saying that less than 5% of recipients of these free bags actually bring them back when they come back into the store, so PLEASE bring them back, and reuse them!
6. Please do not complain about how expensive your textbooks are to cashiers. (haha this is obviously a joke, we get it all the time!
)
BUT, We're students too, and it's important to know that the bookstore has NO control over how much you're paying for texts (this is perhaps the most widely misconceived rumour about the bookstore).
**Cashiers do, however, enjoy the widened eyes and exasperated gasps when a first year student realizes how much they're paying. We were there too!
