Requesting a seat in a course
Hi everybody,
Is it possible to request a seat in a class such as Life Science 2N03 (Human Nutrition) if I am not in Honours Life Science? I have tried registering in SOLAR but they said that I am not able to register even though the class still had seats available in it. I'm from another science program and they specified that the course gives priority to Honours Life Sci students.

If I can, how do I got about requesting a seat?

From the course calendar:
Quote:
LIFE SCI 2N03 - Human Nutrition for Life Sciences

3 unit(s)
Basic principles of human nutrition, including the interaction between nutrients and physiological processes that impact health and disease risk.
Three hours (lectures); one term
Prerequisite(s): Registration in Level II or above of a Life Sciences program
Antirequisite(s): KINESIOL 1F03
Priority will be given to students in an Honours Life Sciences program.
Not open to students registered in a Kinesiology program.

So, a prerequisite of taking the course is that you be registered in a life sciences program, with preferences given to those in Honours programs, as opposed to those in 3-year programs. Therefore, you do not meet the prerequisite for the course, which is why SOLAR won't let you register. The reason this is important is that by now, all the seats for courses should have opened up to all students who are eligible - it's usually in the summer that seats are reserved for specific programs, to ensure the students who get "priority" are able to enroll in it. By now, that shouldn't be an issue going through SOLAR.

You can contact the science academic advisors or the prof directly to inquire about exceptions to the prerequisite program restrictions.
