What are Residence Life Staff?
I've come across a few threads where terms like HPA, HCA, and CA are thrown out there. I've also have quite a few questions about who these people are. Some of you may have already heard about Residence Life Staff but for those of you who haven't here is some information:

HPA= House Programming Advisor: they plan your buildings Welcome Week and all the events through out the year like mixers, off campus events, floor dinners, in building games like The Condom Game (where you have to keep a condom on you at all times otherwise people can give you STD's [not literally, hence the 'game part]) etc

HCA= House Community Advisor: This person is someone who's job is to keep all the CA's and the HPA on track throughout the year and support them in their needs as staff. They're also there for the students of course and take part in regular duties but their job is more of an administrative one

CA= Community Advisor (often called a "Don"): There will be two on each floor except in Edwards and Wally where there's one to a floor. They're there to help you in any way they can whether it's academics or a case of home sickness. They'll help you get used to the way residence works, help orient you with the Residence Code of Conduct and the Student Code of Conduct.

All of the above enforce the rules of residence and will dish out punishments if need be but they're not the fun police, they're just here to make sure that EVERYONE has a good time and has the opportunity to do well and learn.

If you have any questions about Residence Life Staff post'em here and either myself or other members who are past/ present RLS will help answer them for you!

IRC is also a part of the staff in residence we're just slightly different.

There's IRC Programmer- which is the inter-residence council member that plans the events and programs that residence students prefer, in short.

IRC Hall Representative- is the inter-council member of the residence that advocates on behalf of students with regards to majors, facilities, food, security, etc etc.

We do far more than that, but you can ask us more about the council (and join it) in September or in this forum!
