Residence-Wide Formal 2009

Need a real break from studying and midterms?

Then come to th e biggest event of the year, the Residence-Wide Formal! This event that happens every year is brought to you by the IRC (Inter-Residence Council) and the RLS (Residence-Life Staff). This is your chance to have fun, dinner, dance, and mingle with other students in McMaster's twelve residences. So come join us for an evening of unforgettable memories.

What: DESSERTed Island formal (theme)
Who:Students in all residences are welcome, as well as guests. 1100 people are attending!
Where: Hamilton Convention Centre
When: Friday, November 6th, 2009, Reception @ 6:30 PM
Why: Because this is going to be THE event everyone will be talking about for months!

The ticket price covers the cost of transportation to and from the convention centre, dinner and an amazing DJ! Until Monday, October 26th, you can use the coupon provided to you by your IRC reps to get $5 off the ticket price, so you only pay $40. After that, the price is raised to $45, so hurry and get your tickets as soon as possible! Want to bring a significant other or your best friend from off-campus/another university? You can definitely do that! Tickets for guests will be $45.

Tickets are on sale in your hall entrance between the hours of 5-8, Monday to Friday. And you can always ask your IRC reps for them as well. Tickets always sell out within the first week so be sure to buy them immediately!

So kick on your dancing shoes and get ready for the best formal...ever!

This year's formal is going to be amazing. All of the reps and VP Programming have been working so hard. Plus, you gotta admit that the theme is genius. Who doesn't a DESSERTed island. mmm cupcakes and candy! So excited. This is honestly going to be such a huge event!

I went to the formal in '06 that TBrown planned and it was AMAZING! Res formal always sells out and I already bought my dress & shoes!

Mmmm, stop.. you're making me hungry . (I want Bistro cake :() Anyway, . I can't wait, too! I have my dress & shoes ready too!

Ohh i am soo excited, I bought a dress and everytrhig already!!!

Totally going! I made sure to go to the bank yesterday while I hit the grocery store - Gonna be first in line for sales tomorrow (Last day of early bird pricing! $5 off the regular price of $45! Score!). I don't even need to buy a new dress - I still have an awesome almost-brand-new one from the wedding I went to in August =P Black, white, and two shades of green in this funky blotchy-kinda pattern (It looks better than I'm making it sound, I promise!) All I have to do is pick which waist-belt I want to wear with it (I have three - One gold, to match my shoes, one black, and one green) and I'm all set!

... Then again, I may wear dress pants, a dress shirt, and a vest... I feel more comfortable in pants than a dress... but the shirt fabric doesn't breath very well and I'm afraid I'll get too hot dancing around in all those people. Hmmm.....

It's probably going to come down to a coin-flip at the last minute. XD

Either way, totally pumped!

Hahah, I totally bought my dress like the week b4 Thanksgiving....dont judge me! I was just really excited and buying a new dress just makes me feel happy

I'd like to go but since it's commencement that day, most residence kids I know won't be. It seems like it'd be a great time though

I wish I could go though, I can only really afford to go to one formal, and I usually either hit up the SOCS formal or Formaldehyde.

Ooh I wanna go to Formaldehyde too! When's it usually held? Rez-wide formal AND formaldehyde.. so many fun activities, and SO little time.

Afzal, if you don't find anyone in advance, you can always try to find someone special once you get there I met a couple of really fantastic people when I went last year... (But I already had a bf so they were just friends in my case)
