Reviewing First Year Chemistry
Hi,

I've heard that for Chem 1A03, there are about 5 chapters (1-4,6) from the textbook that are presumed knowledge and are to be reviewed on your own time. I was wondering, do the professors for this course go over the main concepts in these chapters or do they get into the other content right away?

Thank you

The first few chapters they skip but that's very basic stuff. First year chem is pretty much grade 12 chem. I think they spent a lil time on it but most was "these are your responsibility"

I think they did 2 review lectures when I was in first year where you basically go over that package that they recommend. I wouldn't really review until they start that, things will come back very quickly Im sure

If you are horrible at Chemistry, don't listen to the above advice and review it early.

You should still review those chapters a little on your own, it never hurts to be prepared.

They take about 2-3 lectures to review the materials.

I would highly recommend you review it ASAP. First semester wasn't as bad because a lot of it was grade 12 review, second semester was not easy. The content itself isn't that hard, just the way it's tested. Almost all questions on the mid-term/exam require you to really think. Just knowing your stuff would get you about 30% of the mark.

reviewing it asap isnt worth it. the stuff will come back to you fast if you got 80+ in hs. enjoy welcome week. dont study during it, especially when the stuff you study will barely come on the midterm.
