Reviewing An Exam
Hi, I'm actually a first year eng student and was wondering how I would go about reviewing my Physcis 1D03 exam. I am not too sure who I would go about contacting in order to arrange the review session. Any advice would be appreciated.

Most of the time you contact your professor unless he specifically told you to go to your department. So contact your professor via e-mail and ask if you can go over your exam. You should note that not all professors will allow you to see your exam.

Actually I think every student has the right to see how they were evaluated...not only on the exam, but for every assignment, etc. because they're technically the property of the student.

So if the prof says "I don't want to show you" then you can go over their head to the department.

I thought everything you hand in becomes property of McMaster....

6 months after the course ends the unclaimed material becomes the property of Mac. Essentially the reason is so that the unclaimed exams, etc. can be shredded and don't have to be held onto for years.

If everything were the property of McMaster, then nothing would ever be returned...but this is the reason why you can take back your assignments etc. The exception being the final exam since there are other reasons for which they cannot be returned (such as other students writing late exams).

The other exception is research material...if Mac funds, in whole or in part, your research (such as in grad school) then your research material is the property of McMaster...in fact the only thing that gets your name on it is your completed, bound thesis...the intermediate documents, written notes, etc. are the property of Mac.

-----------

EDIT: The other thing you may be thinking of is that McMaster reserves the right to re-claim any evaluated material (like assignments) for any reason...though it's not technically theirs, they have the right to look at it again if they need to say, re-evaluate or re-calculate grades.
