Rogers iPhone 4 Pay as you Go?
Is it possible to buy an iPhone 4 for the full price from Rogers, and then use Pay as you Go?

will Wifi work without the data plan? (I've heard on some other phones that the wifi is locked if you don't get a data plan).

No idea about your first question, but yes Wi-Fi will work without a data plan.

Ya you could do the pay as you go thing but the phone itself will cost a lot of money. $699 I believe.

Yes, you can buy an iPhone 4 from Rogers than use a pay as you go plan. Rogers will charge you the full price of the phone which would be around $699 as mentioned earlier.

I would advise buying a rogers iPhone 4 from Kijiji, you can get a new one for around $450 - $500 then take it to Rogers to setup the Pay As You Go Plan.

Wi-fi works without data plan.

I've noticed that the iPhone 4 uses a micro sim card. Can I trade-in my old sim card for a micro sim card? I see alot of videos on youtube of people cutting sim cards into the micro sim card size. Are there stores that offer sim card cutting? (I would assume the cutting is cheaper than buying a micro sim card)

I wouldn't advise that. SIM cards are usually free if you're going with a new device or plan...

(you're likely to run the risk of damaging the card, but it is easy... just don't be surprised if you run into SMS, etc problems)

If I already have a sim card activated with Rogers, will they charge my an activation fee for the micro-sim card?

If you are going to buy phone at full price, buy it from the apple store since it will be unlocked or Kijiji.

From what I've read, the micro-sim card comes with the iPhone when you buy it from Rogers. But I wonder if I'll have to pay the activation fee again.

Given that the iPhone 4S/5 is probably going to be announced in September, then released a little after that, I'd say that you should probably wait a few months before the price drop makes you regret whatever decision you make now.

...alternatively, get an Android phone and don't look back.

Really depends on the Android you're looking at. A lot of them have questionable build quality and the specs aren't any better (if at all) than an iPhone 4 - although if the specs aren't as good then it must be a fairly outdated Android to be fair. Most recent Androids do have much nicer hardware than the iPhone 4, but even still, many of them don't seem to benefit from their power, and still might have responsivity (? is that even a word? lol) issues. iPhones do at times as well though.

As for the actual OS on both, it's really just preference. I prefer the look and feel of iOS over Android, but I like the degree of customization Android offers. My solution? Jailbroken iOS... all the software features I want backed by more than enough hardware I feel I need in a phone, all in a nice, thin package, with good battery life to top it off (that's one thing many Androids seem to have lacking - battery life).
