Rogers-iPhone-plans-anyeone work there maybe?
So I want to get the iPhone and can't wait till tomorrow to call them haha.

so my question is...

Can I keep my current (AWESOME) plan and get the rogers iphone for cheap with the 3 year contract?

When i go on the website, it only gives me like 5 super lame plans to choose from....
I just dont need Data at all... thats why those plans dont appeal to me..and they cost over 40$

right now I get
-300 minutes weekday
-unlimited evenings after 6
-unlimited weekends
-unlimited messages
-free call waiting, voicemail, caller id..etc
=24$ plus tax..
Maybe anyone knows a way i could get the iphone and maybe get a better plan?

You won't get a contract discount on the iPhone unless you subscribe to a data plan :(

You can find those on the internet, but they don't come cheap. Just ask the parents for some $$.

Um, doesn't rogers use SIM card?

My brother just bought an iPhone and put his SIM card in it. He did buy the data plan, but I'm not entirely sure if you need to buy it. Call Rogers to inquire about it, but yeah my bother kept his plan that way.

She wants to try and get the phone for cheap though (Through signing a contract), but the problem is she needs to get a data plan to qualify for the discount, and she doesn't want to do that.

You have to get a data plan. There's no way to turn off data usage on the iPhone so if you opt not to get a data plan you'll get charged by the MB so prepare for an insane bill.

You can get an iphone and cancel the data plan for $100 (it works out to still being around the same price as buying a iPod Touch with the same capacity) or you can call and complain that you were signed into a data contract without explicit prior knowledge (generally if you complain and are adamant, they'll let you off the hook).

I don't really think the phone is worth it without a data plan, the iphone without a data plan is essentially just an iPod Touch with so-so phone features, the only benefit you'll get are free software update. If you need a phone and were going to buy an iPod anyway, get it, if not, you might as well stick to your old phone.

I agree, the point of a smart phone (iPhone, blackberry, Palm etc.) is to have the data package so you can get your emails on the go, surf the internet. If you are not going to use the phone for those purposes its not worth the money to invest in one.
Just stick to a regular phone. A no contract iPhone is $700 and unlocked ones on eBay are even more.

Telus is going to start selling the iPhone also if you want to go with them over Rogers. It doesn't really which company you go with you get priced gouged either way.

if you order the iphone over the phone straight from Fido, you can get it without the data plan for 200 hundred more. so the 16 gigger is 400. well worth it
