Room preferences
What are the chances for me being assigned to either Les Prince or Keyes if rank my choices like this?

1. Single w/ washroom
2. Double w/ washroom
3. Suite.
4. Single
5. Double

My biggest gripe would be if I would be assigned to either a triple, bunk and loft, or quad .

If I can't get one of my first three choices, then how good are my chances of getting a single or double?

There's no "number" for how good your chances are. It's a lottery.

Most of the rooms at Mac are traditional double so if you dont get into your first choice chances are you'll get a double. your choices are EXACTLY how I had mine set and I ended up with a double in Mckay and it actually worked out great! trust me no matter where you end up residence-wise it really is the people that make the place feel like home.

Its highly unlikely that you get triple, bunk and loft, or quad if its not one of your options. I wouldn't be worried about that.

Single with Washroom will be hard to get. Since Level 3/4 students get preference for Single Room. Also because Single with Washrooms are mainly available only in two Residences - Les Prince Hall and Edwards Hall.

Are you sure Edwards has a single with washroom? I've lived there for two years in a single and never got one with a washroom :'(.

Room type preferences listed on the online application are considered in the lottery process but are not guaranteed.

Most first year students will live in double, or bunk and loft triple rooms with roommates.

How the lottery system works:

A computerized lottery is used to determine the order in which residence rooms are assigned. This process takes into consideration, but does not guarantee the preferences you list on your application.

As each student is assigned, the computer checks to see if the first preference listed on the application form is available. If so, the student is assigned to that room. If not, the computer checks the next preference. This continues until the student is either assigned to one of their preferences, or in the event that none of the preferences are available, assigned to another bed space.

During this process, the computer also checks to see if the student has applied for any lifestyle-themes (i.e substance-free) and/or whether they requested a roommate.
Your profile question responses on the online application are also used to determine your placement with other students.
