Private washrooms (ie one person per) is very, very rare in res. Usually only the Head Community Advisor gets those.
Shared between a couple of people (4ish) is still uncommon, but does occur. However, it is not like the amount of people are only going to use that one washroom. Depending on availability of other washrooms people use other ones as well.
I lived in res with a communal washroom, and there was one time where I had to go to another floor to shower. Otherwise there was no waiting.
