Science/Origins 2B03...
Anyone taking this course right now finding that it's sucking pretty bad? I thought from having read course descriptions and stuff beforehand that we were going to be learning about big question such as whether or not aliens exist or things like artificial intelligence (a general range of cool and interesting things).

It seems like we've only been learning about boring cosmological events (I really couldn't care less about the formation of stars through collisions of oblate and spiral galaxies). We completely skipped all the stuff we were apparently supposed to learn about evolution.

The TAs are also marking ridiculously hard on everything (almost everyone got ~%60 or low 70s on the presentations and posters in my tutorial).

Bird course my ass... I should have taken Physics 1L03 as my elective instead.

ya well I feel the same way. Got perfect on the mid term and ended up with 60-70% both on the poster and tutorial. And my poster should have been worth more then 8/12 according to me and everyone else I asked.

oh well...

I did well on my midterm and I got 79% on my poster which isn't really the greatest for an easy course but its not too bad either. Still waiting for my presentation mark, I am presenting this week (because my group had to reschedule with our TA because of the strike) .. I hope it will go ok but I heard my TA is a really hard marker so I'm a little worried.

I'm sure the exam will be pretty easy though so hopefully that will boost marks.

I know that you guys mean...every one is in the exact same situation. The TA's were told to mark hard on the posters and presentation to lower the class average because the midterm average was very high.

Anyways, theres still that 16% in the participation grade and 10% journal mark. So if you can get perfect in both, that oughta bump that mark up a lot.

I love this course !!!

Even though i did dismal on the presentation and probably on the poster as well ...

But like ppl said doing well on the journals and participation mark definitely will boost that mark up ...

Also ... the exams r a good chance to do that !
This course has taught me so much about so many different astronomical phenomenon and its definitely my best course this term.

I took this class in 2007 and thought it was pretty good.. it was basic stuff for me at that point but I still thought it was really well done. Origins FTW!!! I absolutely LOVED all of the other origins classes that were offered.

Hey everyone, I am a first year engineer. I know that first year we are not allowed to take "technical" electives. Does this stick throughout all 4 years of engineering or just the first? Thanks in adv.
