I was really sad when they demolished the funeral home just because it was such a beatutiful old building. But it's all for "progress," I guess. About the Shopper's, I'm really happy that they're building one so close to campus. The drug store in MUSC is wayy overpriced and I rarely buy anything there for that reason. We're students: we don't have tons of money and a store that's going to sell the same things for less will always win out.
About Starbuck's, I'm personally not a big fan of their coffee anyway, so it won't affect me at all. However, it will obviously affect William's because it's right next door; but on the other hand, William's offers an array of other food choices that Starbuck's doesn't so as a restaurant, William's won't be affected at all. Only if people are only going in for coffee. I think Starbuck's and Second Cup are most alike just because the drinks they offer are so similar, so I think that's where most of the competition will lie. However, Second Cup has charm in that it is located in an older building, it's next to Write Impressions and very close to the theatre and other little shops down the road. In this case, I think people will show ther allegiance to either Second Cup or Starbuck's.
It's crazy that coffee affects us all this much, isn't it?

Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes Peak Freans . They do have the creme-filled ones at Centro, though.

Cursed property I say....

There's a huge shoppers in University Plaza for those who do have a car (McMaster or not). But there's no other Starbucks with lots of parking spaces.
I don't see the problem with no parking spaces if their main target is McMaster students/faculty.

LMAO ....You stated exactly what I was already stating but in more words.
Anyways, In reference to the previous post about lack of parking spaces. I was just asking if their aim was to target McMaster students. If that was their aim then obviously parking wouldn't be much of an issue.

I don't have any external evidence, but I believe so. There are 2 Shoppers within a 2 km radius of the school, not to mention 4 other pharmacies (MUSC, the one near Gino's, the one at Fortino's and the one at the hospital) so I imagine the major pull is students. However, considering that the hospital pharmacy is ironically, not open 24/7 and that you now have an entirely pediatric hospital without a convenient pharmacy nearby, I'm pretty sure that affected the decision as well. Starbucks is something familiar and comforting to a lot of people and I believe it's going to do very well in that location. I wonder how this will affect the hospital's cafe.

I hope that this Shoppers will have a Canada Post...
Starbucks, convenient for location macbook users for any sinister purposes and I hope they have more than just two power sockets like Williams on Main.
And the Westdale SC is *far*. There's a 24hr Timmies down the street at the gas station though, but I guess their prices will keep them in the competition.

Oh yes. There is Williams, the ETB cafe, the corner cafe, the hospital cafeteria, the Mohawk building, the Esso Tims, the MDCL Tim Hortons, and the 24/7 Tim Hortons and now the Starbucks.
I really liked the ETB cafe. And this Starbucks will be freaking packed to capacity. Think Thode...but more Macbooks and people who won't budge for a long time.

i believe that the poster that that is has the "lowest dispensing rates" in other words it doesn't really handle all that many prescription drugs, not that its cheapest (far from it).
