They start checking around 9. Sometimes a bit earlier.

I worked for GRS(the guys who check): So yeah, they check on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are supposed to start setting up their desks at 8:45pm. And start checking the student cards at 9pm right through till 3am. So if it isn't 9pm yet, you can get away but asking them to go by the rules. Usually they are lenient. But as time passes, they start getting frustrated by just sitting around with no work to do, so they check every bit of your details. Or at least that was the case with me.

Common misconception. GRS leaves at 3, res staff don't necessarily stop checking IDs by that time.

You have rules, I have years of experience with this. Trust, lazy buggers bug out. Many times by 1am. Maybe they should get some new staff.
