Social Science Students
What are your career goals after you graduate?
What do you plan to do with your degree?

I am asking because I know that I want to go into Social Sciences,
seeing as I suck at anything related to maths and sciences,
so I dont have much of a choice.
However, I dont really know what I can do with it afterwards...
(other than Teachers College or Law School)

Please give me some options

There are always plenty of career opportunities in the social sciences. Don't put down the social sciences, just because our intelligence isn't in math and science does not mean we're not as intelligent. We have different skills and specialties instead.

Here are a few websites I found that describe potential careers for individuals with a political science degree:

actually some programs involve a fair amount of mathematics. Third and fourth year economics classes involve a great deal of calculus and if you decide to do a masters in economics theres even more math.

I really want to get my Masters of Social Work after I graduate, there are a lot of jobs that you can do with a social science degree, many that you wouldn't even immediately think of. I'd suggest taking SocSci 2EL0, it's a free non credit course for social science students, and it's essentially a career planning course, it's really helpful!

You should try to figure out what you're really interested in. If you have an idea of what you like and don't like then it makes it easier to choose your major. Depending on your grades and major you can have lot of options in terms of grad school as well. Some people with a social science degree can end up working at McDonalds, but that doesn't say anything about the value of the degree. Some people are confused and don't even know what they want to do with their life so they settle on mall jobs etc. And some people with a social science degree end up in very good jobs because they know what they want to do and work on getting there. That includes picking a related major, volunteering in a related field and trying to get some work experience while in school. And that goes for every degree.

There are tons and TONS of options for Soc Sci and Humanities grads because of the nature of our degrees: we are constantly analyzing, writing and presenting, jobs that are useful in the corporate world.

However, you have to find meaningful job/volunteer experience before you graduate in order to get any kind of job. If you take me for example (I will be an English/Anthropology/Cultural Studies/Indigenous Studies grad in the spring [which is a long story in itself]), I have experience in PR, HR, journalism, editing, management, customer service, volunteer management etc. Those are the things that will get me a job, my degree as it is will not.

Also useful are internships, co-ops etc, which increase your level of experience in a field or field(s). If you are a Soc Sci student at Mac you can do an internship or co-op as part of your degree.

There is an article series that will be coming out in the next few weeks on the TalentEgg Incubator website that is focused on 'what can you do with a degree in x?'. You can also check out their section devoted directly to education, which may answer some questions for you.
