Social Sciency
Neither me nor my family know what to await for my oncoming school year, so I have this simple question, what exactly am I supposed to do, to get myself ready specifically for this program? (I mean, not talking about residence or meal plan that is)

I am trying to enroll to a first-year Social Science, and the thing is, I have no idea what to expect.

First year social science is very wide open so you have lots of choices for electives.

If you enjoy reading novels take english 1aa3 term 1 its taught by Dr. J. King, loved him.
The econs are relatively easy however boring. I fell asleep numerous times.
Sociology is a relatively easy course a lot of it is common sense stuff.
I took history 1bb3 which was 20th century world history, it was a good course but I do not think they are offering it this year.
indigenous studies are pretty easy as well.

What I would do is go into macs website and search for previous years course outlines. It will give you an idea of how many papers or tests are expected, the percentage breakdown, it also gives you a list of books you may need. I do not like to buy new from the bookstore if i can help it. You have a few other options.
Buy used from the book store, try amazon.ca, try a website called coursesmart.
If you dont mind reading books on an ipad or computer rather than a physical book you can rent them from course smart. A book that is $150 at the book store could be $60 to rent for the term on course smart.

If you have an iPod check the apps for mac map. It gives a map of the campus. its always handy to have because exams are scheduled all over campus

Fire away if you have any questions

Oh and use the time table generator.
timetablegenerator.co m

It is super handy to be able to see what conflicts and what doesn't

The MacMap App is currently down as we are redesigning it, and making a version for Android as well (I think, don't quote me on that one). There will be a general announcement about it when it is completed. It should be ready in time for the new school year.
