I got on ages ago but what I did was, when it said that 'the connection has been reset', I clicked try again rather than open a new window. It seemed to work but I did get booted off of Solar several times. :/

I think you can, you just need a special permission from your faculty. Just talk with your academic advisor and they will help you out!
