Student Insurance/Coverage
I was wondering, and maybe there is no such program, but is there any kind of medical coverage or insurance that is offered in McMaster to students? For example, if I need to get medicine or something, is there any student insurance policy to cover me, if I don't already have one?

Also, are dental/opthamological plans available at McMaster? A woman at Hakim opthometry centre told me that McMaster should be offering something to people who need glasses. Does that come with my enrollment, or is there a separate plan I have to apply to?

Thanks for anything that could answer my question.

It is already included in your supplementary fees.

you are covered by the MSU health plan and the MSU dental plan.

coverage info can be found here:

http://www.msu.mcmaster.ca/health/health/coverage.php

oh and specificially on eye care:

Quote:
One (1) eye examination will be reimbursed up to 50% of the cost, up to a maximum of $50.00.

If your glasses are accidentally broken, or if you rip your contacts (disposable contacts excluded), the MSU will reimburse 80% of the cost of repair of ONE (1) incident per year, up to a maximum of $100.00.

BUT - I have to add, they don't pay for new glasses or contacts. (I was looking at this part especially lol since my insurance only does it for me every 2 years)

For dental stuff though, you can get free cleaning or something. I read the whole thing, but that's the only part that I remember lol.

the claim forms can be found here:

i suppose we pay and then get reimbursed except when we use services at a participating pharmacy.
