Who are we?
We are a group of anti-war McMaster students who work to educate and mobilize students on the issue of Canadian foreign policy and its impact on students, Canadian society and the international community. SRWO upholds international and human rights, particularly principles of non-intervention and the right of peoples to sovereignty and self-determination as enshrined in the Fourth Geneva Convention and related policies. As such, SRWO opposes Canadian involvement in the Occupations of Afghanistan and Haiti, amongst others.
What do we do?
Over the academic year, we will be inviting guest speakers to give talks on Canada's involvement in the occupation of various countries. We will also hold meetings where we can openly discuss issues we believe need more attention.
First General Assembly Meeting:
The first general assembly meeting will be held on September 23rd at HSL 1B20 (but meet at the WIlliams first at 6pm). During this general assembly meeting, we will be introducing the group's purpose as well as discussing our future plans/goals. Please come out, as it would be a great oppertunity to contribute ideas and issues you believe need more attention. This meeting will also give you an oppertunity to apply for a leadership position, so don't miss out!
First event:
Our first event will be on September 30th at HSC 1A6. It will consist of various guest speakers who will be making a speech on the topic of Canada's involvement in Afghanistan.
