Study Music?
I was just interested in what other mac students were listening to while they did homework/studied?
Currently i'm listening to some ambient stuff like: 65daysofstatic, boards of canada, god is an astronaut and Mogwai.
Oh, and Metric is always good and melodic.
How about you?

I like listening to metal when I study. It's very efficient in drowning out background noises.

Any specific bands?
I used to like bands like Static-X and Rob Zombie when i was into metal, but kinda moved on to more alternative stuff like Nine Inch Nails or Mindless Self Indulgence.

depends on how i feel when i'm studying. But it seems i'm most likely to either put my iPod on shuffle and listen to whatever comes on or put on my classical playlist

The Classic Crime is an amazing band. Great listening, all their songs are top notch. Ie/ who needs air, gravedigging, abracadavers ect.
For heavier stuff, Haste the Day. I like the newer albums Dreamer, and Attack of the Wolf King.

Bohren & Der Club of Gore is a pretty cool ambient band I used to listen to last year. It's very relaxing.

Anything with lyrics or repetitive beats (especially bass) makes for bad study music. The lyrics engage your mind and really just end up being a distraction. Repetitive beats causes the natural response to limit bloodflow to your head, to avoid getting a headache. Less bloodflow to your brain = less mental capacity available for use.
When I study I usually do one of 3 things:
1)Turn on streamingsoundtracks. com's internet radio feed
2) Put on a random ambient internet radio site through the iTunes radio listing
3) Put on Sky.FM's solo piano channel (found in the classical section of iTunes radio listings)

Classical. Say Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach especially. Give Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata a try.

Moonlight sonata is in my playlist of songs I use to lull myself to sleep. it's a beautiful piece, but it's just a little too calming. But I agree, classical is perfect for studying, as many studies have suggested.
