Summer.
SO I'm doing summer school this year (right now I'm a first year) and I've rented a room for next year, with the lease starting May 1st.
I'll probably just alternate between home and offcampus.
Do you guys have ideas what I can do in Hamilton for 4 months? I'd love to volunteer and get a job, so just hit me with anything!

things to do in the summer
- volunteer;
there are a lot of senior homes, and long term care facilities that need volunteers, especially in the summer. a hospital, cough cough, isnt the only place to volunteer.
volunteer with the royal botanical garden (RBG) they have several events throughout the summer months (more so in may and june) where schools come in and participate in activities and guides. they also need volunteers for gardening, and maintaining the trials and such. conversely you could volunteer at the aviary.
try and see if you can volunteer for Ronald McDonald house once it opens up, i believe that should be sometime in april or may?

- get a job;
jobs are hard to come by in the summer, especially part time ones. if your classes are in the evening try applying fro full time work through workstudy on oscarplus. the only thing is oyu will be have a 30h work period per week along with the 6 hours or so of lectures. but its not all that much actually.

- explore;
Hamilton has a bunch of trails and waterfalls that are easily accessible. buy a bike and take it down the rail trail or the waterfront trail; its good exercise, you get fresh air, and the scenery is spectacular.
there is a lot going on down town too so explore around, there are a bunch of farmers markets that pop up so go check them out for good healthy food.
see if the Mac Outdoors Club is holding as local trips in the summer. the usually do waterfall day hikes, night hikes, or small one day camping trips in the local area which are either free or really cheap.

If you're looking for a job, keep your eyes open for something regarding the Shoppers that will open at Main & Emerson. Putting the interior of the store together is a solid 40 hours a week for one month and, if you work hard, it'll turn into something longer.
