Summer Course GPA
Hi,
Do summer courses taken at Mac count towards your GPA for med school? Do they go on your transcript for med school? I'm thinking about taking some of the tougher science courses during the summer so I can focus more on them, but I'm not sure if med schools will see I took them...
Thanks!

Depends what school.

In Ontario, McMaster, Queen's and Northern School of Medicine count them as part of your GPA while UofT, Western, and Ottawa do not.

Also, as far as I know pre-reqs can be done in the summer even if the school doesn't count them as part of your GPA.

depending upon the school that you apply to they may take your new grade into consideration exclusively, or average the two grades together. Med schools prefer students who take a full course load during the regular school year. Any credits received out of your september - april school year are purely extra, although they may/ may not be counted towards your GPA (its a situational factor depending upon the med-school you're applying to), you won't be reprimanded unless you take less than a full course load.
