Summer OSAP and dropping a class
What occurs if you have already received your summer OSAP but drop a class during first term summer, putting you at 3 courses over the summer rather than the required 4.

Do you still get OSAP and they decrease your second payout?

edit: Drop as in you cancel a class before the sessional drop date because you're getting a really bad mark or something.

If you drop a class, go to Gilmour Hall and Financial Aid Office. Fill out a form for overcompensation. First time? Your next OSAP amount will just be decreased by the amount you received now. More than once? I believe you have to pay it back first to receive any more OSAP

With 3 courses, you're not eligible for OSAP over the summer, so you probably won't receive a second payment. In this case, I think you would have to pay it back to whoever (since you never should have received it in the first place)--contact SFAS, they can tell you.

I'm pretty sure it works that way even though you will have already paid for most of the course at that point, because you're not getting the credit for it...but SFAS can give you a better/more concrete answer.

the requirement is like 60% of total course load. For summer that means 2 courses. That is also your limit. Thus, in summer u can take a max of 2 courses. You will only get OSAP if you take 2.

I thought it was 80% of a full courseload (OSAP fulltime is different from MSU fulltime). Since 3/4 courses is 75%, you need all 4 in the summer. There's another thread that goes through all of this from a week or two ago I think.

When I asked it was actually per semester. So you could get OSAP for the semester you have 2 classes (a full course load). Also, I believe the full-time status for OSAP is also set at 60%.
