summer school should i study?
Im currently taking orgo at york for this summer and there's an upcoming test next week.
Im just wondering if i should really study for it cuz I know that this grade doesnt count towards my gpa, it just count as a credit as long as i get over 60%
so is there any point for me to study real hard and try to get good grade?

I think the answer to your question lies within the question itself.

you do understand what you learn is built upon in upper year chem courses. Getting a good foundation in chemistry is essential to do well in upper year courses.

studying is for knowledge. i dont know about summer school @ other schools, but summer courses at mac count toward cumulative average. Cumulative average = school year+summer school. when they say u need ___ points to stay in the program that is the cumulative average mark. in essence, yes u should

Study. If you can do well on this midterm then you'll be under a lot less pressure when it comes time to write the final exam. You'll thank yourself later.

Nah don't bother, if you're already taking orgo in the summer + at York (i.e., taking the half-assed approach) why not go all the way? Like you said, it doesn't count towards your GPA, right?

the main thing i was worried about was if some schools look into summer school marks when applying for grad school and such.
I dont want it to affect me later in school year

honestly, dont even bother going to the test. the percentage will move up to the next test and you can kill that one if you want to go through that approach

Grad schools look at your transcripts from all schools where you've taken courses/attended. If it were me, I wouldn't just aim for the 60, not just for the fact that it wouldn't look good, but also you're paying $500+ for the course, make the best out of it. Oh and not to forget that a lot of this information can be a foundation for things that you may encounter in upper year courses.

Professional schools also look at all transcripts from all schools you've attended. So unless you plan on working after your undergraduate degree, you should definitively study.
